The same engine scores it, wherever it came in
One ranking engine runs in both products, so a message never gets one verdict in the extension and a different one here. It reads the words, the links and the headers, then says which of three things it is in plain English.
- High risk — known scam scripts: shipping fees, gift cards, fake payment portals
- Verify first — something does not line up, and here is the thing to check
- No known scam signals — ranked by fee, terms and sender instead
What runs where
The short version: the extension never uploads message text on its own, and if you only use the extension, nothing leaves your device at all.
What we can't do, and won't pretend to
TikTok publishes no DM API. WhatsApp's is for business numbers. Instagram's needs a professional account, a linked Page and Meta's review, and only ever sees messages sent to that account. Gmail's read scope requires a yearly third-party security audit.
So DealShield does not ask to log into your accounts, and you will never see a "connect your TikTok" button here. The extension reads what is already on your screen, and the forwarding address covers email without a single permission.
